Stumbled upon this ubiquitous wicker basket ($3) when shopping at the Goodwill store. I had arrived early before opening, and noticed this L-shaped basket in a bin near the store's front window.
The basket's odd shape was intriguing enough, I wondered how well it might fit over the battery pack off the back of the bicycle. I had visited the Goodwill store to search for a fleece, but after an hour of trying a few on, I gave up and remembered to take a look at the basket on my way out. The result turned out pretty cool. It's held on with four 10-inch mini-bungie cords. It rises about two inches above the back of the seat, so care is required when mounting and dismounting the bike. The basket's size is impressive, the opening is 8 x 16 inches; the shorter section has a 6 inch depth, the deeper section has a 14 inch depth. Not sure it will be a permanent fixture, but it sure looks handy for a picnic, with plenty of room for fruit and sandwiches, a couple of small bottles of wine and a light ground cloth. |
